To install the Intel 82850 chipset drivers for Windows 98 on the Dimension 8100, perform the following steps:

Install the Driver From the Dell Dimension Resource CD Revision 2.09

1. Insert the Dell Dimension Resource CD into your CD drive.
2. From the System Model menu, click Dimension 8100.
3. From the Operating System menu, click Windows 98.
4. From the Device Type menu, click System.
5. From the Topic menu, click Drivers.
   A list of system devices appears.
6. Click Intel Chipset.
   The WinZip Self-Extractor window appears.
7. Click OK.
   A prompt to unzip the file to C:\Dell\Drivers\0377C appears.
8. Click Unzip.
   A window appears and indicates 64 files were unzipped successfully.
9. Click OK.
   The Dell Software Installation Documentation window appears.
10. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Install Now button.
    The message You have chosen to download a file from this location (setup.exe) appears.
11. Click Run this program from its current location and then click OK.
    A security warning may appear indicating the driver is missing authenticode driver signings, click Yes if this window appears.
12. Click Next.
    The License Agreement window appears.
13. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
    Windows prompts you to restart your computer.
14. Click Yes, I want to restart my computer now and then click Finish.

Repeat the steps in the Discussion section and refer to Figure 2 above to ensure the device drivers have been properly installed.

Install the Driver From the Dell File Library

If you do not have the Dell Dimension Resource CD available, you may download the drivers from Dell Support.

1. Browse to Dell Support.

2. Click the link for Downloads.
3. Search by the exact filename for Z0377C05.exe.
   
   NOTE: For more information about searching for and downloading files from Dell, click the Help link.
   
   
4. When the File Download window appears, click Run this program from its current location and then click OK.
   After the file has finished downloading, a Security Warning window appears.
5. Click the Yes button.
   The WinZip Self-Extractor window appears.
6. Click OK.

7. Click Unzip.
   A window appears and indicates that 64 files were unzipped successfully.
8. Click OK.
