A possible security vulnerability exists in the Dell color laser printers when connected to a network. This vulnerability could allow unauthorized access to the network through the printer. This does not affect locally connected printers. The affected printers include:

• 3000cn (All units)

• 3100cn (All units)

• 5100cn (All units)

• 3010cn (firmware earlier then ver. 200512221325, shipped before 1st Aug 2006)

• 3110cn (firmware earlier than ver. 200605261418, shipped before 1st Aug 2006)

• 5110cn (firmware earlier than ver. 200606011138, shipped before 1st Aug 2006)

Dell has released firmware that has corrected the issue. To download the updated firmware, perforn the following steps:

1. Click here to enter the  Drivers and Downloads page.

2. Click to choose Enter Tag, input your printer's Service Tag and click Go.
   
   If you do not know your printer's Service Tag number, choose Select Your Model and click Printers under Select Your Product Family. Then click to choose the printer's model number under Select Your Product Model.

3. Click the plus sign next to Printers, and click to select Dell-Firmware.

4. Click Download Now.

5. Click Save in the File Download - Security Warning window.

6. Click Save in the Save As window to download the file to your Desktop.

7. When the download operation is complete, click Run to start the firmware installation program.

8. Follow the onscreen instructions.
