How to Load Paper in the Correct Manner

 How to Load Paper in the Correct Manner

  1. Use standard size and 20lb (80 g/m²) weight paper to verify that it feeds properly.

  2. Fan the paper with no more than 100 sheets of  paper (Figure 1).

  3. Center the paper on the paper support.

  4. Adjust the paper guides so they rest against the edges of the paper (Figure 2).

    Note:  
      Do not pull on both paper guides simultaneously. When one paper guide is moved, the other adjusts accordingly.

Issue 1.Multiple Sheets Feed Through

  1. Use standard size and 20lb (80 g/m²) weight paper to verify that it feeds properly.

  2. Load fewer sheets than the maximum to check the feed mechanism.

  3. Fan the paper (Figure 1).

  4. Open the printer and remove any stuck sheets of paper.

  5. Print a test page using the Dell Imaging Toolbox.

Issue 2.The Pages are Wrinkled

  1. Use standard size and 20lb (80 g/m²) weight paper to verify that it feeds properly.

  2. Fan the paper (Figure 2).

  3. Adjust the paper guides so that they contact the edges of the paper but do not put pressure against the stack (Figure 3).

  4. Print a test page using the Dell Imaging Toolbox.

Issue 3.The Pages are Crooked

  1. Use standard size and 20lb (80 g/m²) weight paper to verify that it feeds properly.

  2. On the printer control panel, use the Left and Right Arrow  buttons to highlight Maintenance, then press Select.

  3. Use the Left and Right Arrow  buttons to highlight Print Test Page, then press Select.

  4. Verify that standard-sized paper is loaded, then press Select to print a Test Page.

    Note:
    If the Test Page prints normally without the same problem, the problem is related to the document or image you are printing. Use whatever software that was used to create the document for further troubleshooting.

  5. Examine the "L"-shaped color bars at the center of the Test Page (Figure 4) to determine if the colors are properly aligned.

  6. Fold the Test Page at the center dotted line and verify that the dot at the top of the page lines up with the circle at the bottom of the page.

  7. If the colors do not line up or the dot does not align with the circle, in the Dell Imaging Toolbox on the Maintenance tab click Align Ink Cartridges, then print another Test Page.

Issue 4.The Paper Jams

  1. Open up the printer and remove any stuck sheets of paper.

  2. Use standard size and 20lb (80 g/m²) weight paper to verify that it feeds properly.

  3. Load fewer sheets than the maximum to check the feed mechanism.

  4. Fan the paper (Figure 5).

  5. Print a test page using the Dell Imaging Toolbox.
