These instructions will walk you through deleting a corrupted User Profile and recreating it:
1 Click ,
, and then click System.
2 Click

Advanced system settings | on the left.
If the User Account Control window appears, click

3 Click the

 | tab, and then click the

Settings... |
 | button.
4 Within the
window, click to highlight the profile you want to delete, and then click

Delete |

5 Click

6 Click , type regedit in the Start search box, and then press <Enter>.
7 Click the next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click the next to SOFTWARE, repeat for Microsoft, then repeat for Windows NT, finally click the next to CurrentVersion, and then click on ProfileList.
8 Right-click the corrupted SID or user profile within the ProfileList folder, and click Delete.
9 Restart the computer.
10 Once the computer has booted back into Windows, click ,
, and then click Add or remove user accounts under User Accounts and Family Safety. Windows Defender may ask for confirmation, if so, click Continue.
11 Click Create a new account.
12 Enter a name for the account and then select the account type.
13 Click Create Account.
14 You may now logoff of the current account and logon to the new User Account.

These instructions will walk you through running System Restore on your computer:
1 Insert the Windows Vista DVD, and then restart the computer.
2 Continually tap <F12> as the computer starts.
3 When the Press any key to boot from CD or DVD screen appears, immediately press any key to boot the computer from the DVD.
4 Select your preferences within the Language to install, Time and currency format, and Keyboard or input method screens, and then click Next.
5 Click Repair your computer, select the operating system that you want to repair (Vista), and then click Next.
6 Click System Restore, and then click Next.
7 Click to select a date before problems were observed with the computer, and then click Next.
8 Confirm the disks that you want to restore, and then click Next.
9 Click Finish, and then click Yes.
10 Click Restart when the restore procedure is complete.
