Article Summary: This article provides information about how to fix a corrupt version of the MFC80.dll file that was included in the DataSafe local build. This article also shows you how to download a fresh copy of the file to fix errors that appear when DSL launches and when you cannot create system recovery discs.

» Description

This issue causes a potential conflict with other applications on the system and causes DSL or the other application to crash:

  • An RMCPlg.exe error appears when DSL launches
  • BTTray.exe error appears
  • Unable to create system recovery discs, as the buttons on the system recovery disc screen are unresponsive

» Solution

  1. Browse to the Microsoft website to download a copy of the MFC80.dll file.   

  2. Select the version that is correct for the language and bit version of your operating system.  

    The file is a redistributable hot fix and has a name such as Vcredist_x86.exe (regular 32 bit) or _X64 (64 bit OS). For example, 
    ENU (vcredist_x86.exe) is for English 32 bit.
