Powered by Windows® Sideshow™ technology, the Dell MiniView LCD display device (Figure 1) is designed to provide quick to access to information available on a computer running Windows Vista. SideShow technology uses gadgets, which are add-in programs, to extend information from the computer onto devices such as the MiniView LCD display. Gadgets allow you to view information from your computer even responds when the system is in Sleep mode (Less than 3 second instant on).

The MiniView LCD display menu includes a list of all the gadgets shipped with your system. It also allows you to remove existing gadgets from the list or add them back. All the gadgets available on the MiniView LCD display can be viewed with the help of the Menu button and activated with the help of the Navigation buttons.

The default gadgets available on the MiniView LCD allow you to view photos stored on your system, play or browse audio and video files, set reminders and alarms.

» Enabling Windows® Sideshow™ Gadgets

To enable SideShow gadgets in Vista, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.

  2. In the Control Panel, double-click Windows SideShow.

  3. Put a check in the box next to the gadget to enable it (Figure 1).

» Configure the MiniView LCD

The device settings for the MiniView LCD display include:

  • Theme
  • Language
  • Screen Brightness
  • Security Management Options

To access and configure the MiniView LCD in Microsoft Windows Vista, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.

  2. In the Control Panel, double-click Windows SideShow.

  3. In the left-hand pane of the window, click MiniView.

  4. Use the drop-down boxes and check boxes to configure the desired settings (Figure 1).

  5. Once complete, click the OK button.
