Share a Hard Drive, Folder, or Printer
This article describes how to create a workgroup, share a folder, file, hard drive, or printer over a home network.
Firewall products such as Windows Live OneCare, PC-cillin, or McAfee by default might block incoming network file and printer sharing traffic. If you are unable to access a share or share after performing the steps below, attempt to configure the firewall to allow file and folder sharing access. In some cases, uninstalling the firewall is necessary. For further assistance, refer to the firewall vendor.

7 Name the folder or Local Drive in the box next to Share Name:.

2 Right-click the the printer you want to share, and choose Sharing....
3 Click Share this printer and List in the directory.
It might take up to 15 minutes for the computer to appear.
2 Click My Network Place, Entire Network, and then click Microsoft Windows Network.
3 Double-click your workgroup name.
4 Double-click the name of the computer containing the shared folder that you want to access.

4 Click to select A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer, and then click
6 Click Connect to this printer (or browse to a printer, select this option and then click Next:).
7 Under share printers:, select your workgroup name.
8 Double-click the computer name that you share the printer on, and then click
The printer driver will automatically install, or you will be prompted to insert the driver CD for the printer.
