How to Configure a Dell Computer to Boot to the CD or DVD
With the computer powered on, insert a bootable CD into the CD or DVD drive.
Restart the computer.
Tap <F12> during the first few seconds.
Select the appropriate response to continue.
Press the <down arrow> until you highlight CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive.
Press <Enter>.Your computer will now boot to the CD in the drive.
Click on your system type to continue:
Press <F2> during the first few seconds, while the initial Dell logo is on the screen, to enter the BIOS.
Click on the picture that best resembles your BIOS to continue:
Press the <down arrow> to highlight Boot Sequence then press <Enter>.
Press the <down arrow> to highlight CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive.
Press <u> until CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive is listed as the first option.
Press <ESC> and then press <ESC> again and then press the <right arrow> to highlight Exit, then press <Enter> to restart the system again.Your computer will now boot to the CD in the drive.
These changes will be in effect until the BIOS is restored to its previous settings. This can be done by reversing the instructions above or restoring the BIOS to the default settings.

Press the <right arrow> to highlight Boot.
Press the <down arrow> to highlight CD-ROM Drive.
Press either the <F6> or <+> key to move the CD-ROM option up one slot.
Press either the <F6> or <+> key again to move the CD-ROM option up to the first slot.
Press the <right arrow> to highlight Exit.
Make sure Save Changes and Exit is highlighted then press <Enter>.
Press <Enter> to confirm.Your computer will now boot to the CD in the drive.
Press <Down Arrow> to highlight Boot Sequence.
Press <Enter> to display the available boot devices, the Boot Sequence menu appears.
Press <Up Arrow> or the <Down Arrow> key to highlight IDE CD-ROM Device.
Press plus <+> or minus <—> to move IDE CD-ROM Device to the top of the list.
Press <Enter>.
Press <Esc> to Save and Exit.
Press <Enter> to Save changes and exit now.Your computer will now boot to the CD in the drive.
Press the <Alt> + <P> keys at the same time to proceed to the second page.
Press the key until Boot First Device is highlighted.
Press the key until CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive is shown.
Insert the CD-ROM you intend to boot to into the CD or DVD drive.
Press the key to Save and Reboot.Your computer will now boot to the CD in the drive.
