POST Beep Codes: Dell™ Dimension™ XPS Dxxx Systems

If the monitor cannot display errors or problems, the computer may emit a series of beeps that identifies the problem. The beep code indicates the number of beeps that will be emitted; for example, 1 beep followed by 2 beeps indicates that no video card is connected.

Beep Codes Error
1-2 Video card not present
1-2-2-3 BIOS ROM checksum error
1-3-1-1 DRAM refresh error
1-3-1-3 8742 keyboard controller error
1-3-3-1 Memory defective or not present
1-3-4-1 RAM failure on line xxx
1-3-4-3 RAM failure on data bits xxx of low byte on memory bus
1-4-1-1 RAM failure on data bits xxx of high byte on memory bus
NOTE: It is normal for the computer to emit a single beep during the boot routine. This beep is not considered a beep code unless the computer is unable to complete the boot routine.
