It is not necessary to low-level format this
drive. The drive is shipped from the manufacturer low-level
formatted in 512-byte sectors.
Fibre Channel drives use the FC-SCA connector for:
- DC power
- FC-AL interface
- Drive select (device identification)
- Option selection
- Enclosure Services interface
This 40-pin connector is designed to plug directly into a
back panel. External cables are not required.
You can mount the drive in any orientation.
However, all drive performance characterization was done with the
drive in horizontal and vertical orientations, which are the
preferred orientations.
