Create a GPRS Connection with Windows Dial-up Networking

The Dell TrueMobile 5100 Tri-band GPRS PC Card can also be used with Windows DUN (dial-up networking).

1. Create a new dial-up to the internet connection using the New Connection Wizard.

2. Choose to set up an internet connection.

3. Choose to set up the connection manually.

4. Choose to connect using a dial-up modem.

5. Select the Dell TrueMobile 5100 Tri-band GPRS PC Card as the modem.

6. If prompted deselect Use area code and dialing rules.

7. If prompter enter a name for the connection.

8. Enter the following telephone number: *99***2#

9. Enter username and password if required.

10. Enter a connection name.

11. Complete the Wizard steps and select Finish.

12. Go to the Control Panel and double click System, go to the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.

13. Under Modems select the Dell TrueMobile 5100 Tri-band GPRS PC Card Modem.

14. Double-click or select properties from the toolbar to view the modem properties.

15. In the Advanced Tab under Extra Settings enter the following initialization command: at+cfun=1,1

16. Select OK and then exit the Device Manager.

17. You can now select the new connection and dial to connect to the internet.


Create a GSM Connection with Windows Dial-up Networking

1. Create a new dial-up to the internet connection using the New Connection Wizard.

2. Choose to set up an internet connection.

3. Choose to set up the connection manually.

4. Choose to connect using a dial-up modem.

5. Select the Dell TrueMobile 5100 Tri-band GPRS PC Card as the modem.

6. Enter a name for the connection.

7. Enter the Telephone number for the ISP.

8. Enter username and password if required.

9. Complete the Wizard steps and select Finish.

10. Go to the Control Panel and double click System, go to the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.

11. Under Modems select the Dell TrueMobile 5100 Tri-band GPRS PC Card Modem.

12. Double-click or select properties from the toolbar to view the modem properties.

13. In the Advanced Tab under Extra Settings enter the following initialization command: at+cfun=1,1

14. Select OK and then exit the Device Manager.

15. You can now select the new connection and dial to connect to the internet.
