J29* 00000007.gif Supports older, non-VID processor.

                         00000008.gif Supports VID-enabled P6 processor.

*There are two system board p/n's for this system. The newest one (99244) has an
additional jumper (J29) which is not present on the old system board (p/n 09439) and which
allows it to work with the newer VID-enabled (Voltage IDentification) processors. All 200
MHz processors sold by Dell and some 150 MHz (those w/ p/n 99243) are VID-enabled.
The system board is designed to operate with 2.1v to 3.5v P6 processors. An on-board
voltage regulator circuit provides the required voltages from the 5 and 3.3 volt taps off
the ATX PC power supply. On the newer system board with J29 open, the voltage regulator
is programmed according to the voltage ID pins of a VID-enabled P6 processor. For the new
system board to work with an older non-VID processor, there must be a jumper across the
two pins of J29.
When standing to the front of the system, J29 is located immediately in front of the
keyboard connector's right corner. It's pins are oriented from front to back and the
jumper block is square (as if there were room for two more pins to the right of the
existing pins.)

Controls
Front-Panel Controls/Indicators
Power Switch
The power switch is a push-button on/off switch.
Power Indicator
The power indicator lights up when the system is on.
Reset Button
Pressing the reset button initiates a hardware reset. To avoid possible data or file structure corruption, use the reset button only when the system cannot be rebooted with the <CTRL-ALT-DEL> key combination, and perform an orderly shutdown of the operating system.
Hard-Disk Drive Access Indicator
The hard-disk drive access indicator lights up when the hard-disk drive is being accessed.
Diskette-Drive Access Indicators
The diskette-drive access indicators light up when the diskette-drive is being accessed.
