Hardware Installation

Note: If the Emuzed PCI card is already installed, start with Step 4.
If the card is not installed or if you are reinstalling the card follow steps 1 to 9.
For more information refer to the Quick Start Install Guide.

Shut down your computer and unplug the power cord to prevent
any personal or equipment damage.

Step 1: Open the Computer

Remove the cover of the computer
(Refer to the owner's manual if you are unsure of how to open the case).

Step 2: Locate an Available PCI Slot

Remove the rear access cover of any free PCI slot (you may need a screwdriver to do this). Save all the screws that you remove.

Step 3: Install the Emuzed PCI Card

Remove the PCI card from the protective wrapper.

i.

Hold the PCI card by its sides or by its bracket without touching any metal contacts or components.

ii.

Gently but firmly push the PCI card into the PCI slot until it is fully seated.

If you encounter any resistance do not force the PCI card instead, pull out the PCI card carefully and try again.

iii.

After making sure that the Emuzed PCI card is fully seated into the PCI slot, secure it with the screws that were removed in Step 2.

iv.

Replace your computer cover and reconnect its power cord and anything else that you disconnected, such as the monitor etc.

Step 4: Attach the Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box

The Breakout Box has a molded cable with a 15 pin VGA which is to be connected to the Emuzed PCI
Card.

Step 5: Connect your Analog Video Inputs

Plug one end of the video cable (RCA cable) into the Video-Out port of your camcorder, VCR or any other video source and the other end of the video cable (RCA cable) into the yellow Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Video-In socket. If you are using a device with an S-Video port, connect one end of a S-Video cable to the S-Video-In socket of the Breakout Box. Plug the other end of the cable into the S-Video-Out port of the source device. (S-Video produces higher quality video).

Step 6: Connect your Analog Audio Inputs

Plug one end of a dual RCA audio cable (red and white) into the
Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Audio-In socket and the other end into the Audio-Out socket of your video source device. If you want to use a microphone, plug it into the MIC socket on your soundcard.

Step 7: Connect your DV cable

Connect the DV cable from the DV source directly to the DV socket on your Emuzed PCI card.

Step 8: Connect your VCR or other Video output device (Optional)

Plug one end of another video cable into the
Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Video-Out socket and the other end into the Video-In socket of your TV monitor, VCR or other video device. If you are using a device with an S-Video port, connect one end of a S-Video cable to the S-Video-Out socket of the Breakout Box. Plug the other end of the cable into the S-Video-In port of the TV, VCR or other video device. (S-Video produces higher quality video).

Step 9: Connect your Audio Outputs

Using a dual RCA/ audio cable, connect Audio-Out from the
Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box to the Audio-In sockets on your computer or to your VCR or powered speakers. (If you have appropriate wiring, you can connect to more than 1 audio device at the same time). Connect your computer's soundcard outputs to the Audio-In sockets of your speakers.

Driver & Hardware Diagnostics Installation

If the driver and the hardware are not installed or if you need to reinstall them,
perform the following steps:

Step 1: Start your computer

When the computer is Powered ON, Windows will display a dialog box which indicates that new hardware is found and will ask you to locate the device driver for it. Now Click on Cancel to terminate the wizard as the device driver will be installed as part of the software installation.

Step 2: Install the Dell Movie Studio Installation CD Software

Insert the Dell Movie Studio Installation Disk into your CD ROM drive. If the installer does not start automatically then Click on the Windows Startup Button and select Run from the menu and type "X:Setup.exe"( X is the CD ROM drive letter) and click on Ok and later follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

Step 3: Restart your Computer

When you restart your computer, you might be asked to insert your original Windows Installation Disk, so be sure to have it with you. If you are not asked for the disk, it means that the required software is already available on your system.
