Hardware Installation
|

Note: If the Emuzed PCI card is already installed, start with Step 4.
If the card is not installed or if you are reinstalling the card follow
steps 1 to 9.
For more information refer to the Quick Start Install Guide.

Shut down your
computer and unplug the power cord to prevent
any personal or equipment damage.
|
|
|
|
|
Step 1: Open the
Computer
Remove the cover of the computer (Refer to the owner's manual if you are unsure
of how to open the case).
|
Step 2: Locate an Available PCI Slot
Remove the rear access cover of any free PCI slot (you may need a
screwdriver to do this). Save all the screws that you remove.

Step 3: Install the Emuzed PCI
Card
|
Remove the PCI card from the
protective wrapper.
|
i.
|
Hold the PCI card by
its sides or by its bracket without touching any metal contacts or
components.
|
|
ii.
|
Gently but firmly
push the PCI card into the PCI slot until it is fully seated.
|
|

|
If you encounter
any resistance do not force the PCI card instead, pull out the PCI
card carefully and try again.
|
|
|
|
iii.
|
After making sure
that the Emuzed PCI card is fully seated into the PCI slot, secure it
with the screws that were removed in Step 2.
|
|
iv.
|
Replace your
computer cover and reconnect its power cord and anything else that you
disconnected, such as the monitor etc.
|
|

Step 4: Attach the Movie Studio
Plus Breakout Box
The Breakout Box has a molded cable with a 15 pin VGA
which is to be connected to the Emuzed PCI Card.
|
Step 5: Connect your Analog Video Inputs
Plug one end of
the video cable (RCA cable) into the Video-Out port of
your camcorder, VCR or any other video source and the
other end of the video cable (RCA cable) into the yellow
Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Video-In socket. If you are using a device with an
S-Video port, connect one end of a S-Video cable to the
S-Video-In socket of the Breakout Box. Plug the other
end of the cable into the S-Video-Out port of the source
device. (S-Video produces higher quality video).

Step 6: Connect your Analog Audio Inputs
Plug one end of a dual RCA audio cable (red and white)
into the Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Audio-In socket and the other end into the Audio-Out
socket of your video source device. If you want to use
a microphone, plug it into the MIC socket on your soundcard.

Step 7: Connect your DV cable
Connect the DV cable from the DV
source directly to the DV socket on your Emuzed PCI card.

Step 8: Connect your VCR or other Video
output device (Optional)
Plug one end of another video cable into the Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box Video-Out socket and the other end into the Video-In
socket of your TV monitor, VCR or other video device.
If you are using a device with an S-Video port, connect
one end of a S-Video cable to the S-Video-Out socket of
the Breakout Box. Plug the other end of the cable into
the S-Video-In port of the TV, VCR or other video device.
(S-Video produces higher quality video).

Step 9: Connect your Audio Outputs
Using a dual RCA/ audio cable, connect Audio-Out from
the Dell Movie Studio Plus Breakout Box to the Audio-In sockets on your computer or to your
VCR or powered speakers. (If you have appropriate wiring,
you can connect to more than 1 audio device at the same
time). Connect your computer's soundcard outputs to the
Audio-In sockets of your speakers.

Driver & Hardware Diagnostics Installation
If the driver and the
hardware are not installed or if you need to reinstall them,
perform the following steps:

Step 1: Start your computer
When the computer is Powered ON,
Windows will display a dialog box which indicates that new hardware is
found and will ask you to locate the device driver for it. Now Click on Cancel
to terminate the wizard as the device driver will be installed as part
of the software installation.

Step 2: Install the Dell Movie Studio
Installation CD Software
Insert the Dell Movie Studio Installation Disk into your CD ROM drive. If the installer
does not start automatically then Click on the Windows
Startup Button and select Run from the menu and
type "X:Setup.exe"( X is the CD ROM drive letter)
and click on Ok and later follow the on-screen
instructions to install the software.

Step 3: Restart your Computer
When you restart your computer,
you might be asked to insert your original Windows Installation Disk, so be
sure to have it with you. If you are not asked for the disk, it means that
the required software is already available on your system.
