If you ordered the GeForce 7300 LE-based graphics card with a system,
your system has been installed with the proper software/hardware and configured
by Dell, Inc. Refer to the instructions on this page only if
you purchased a customer kit or need to install a new device driver.
Installing the NVIDIA Windows Display
XP Driver
NOTE:
The NVIDIA display driver must be installed by a user with Administrator
privileges. Please consult your system administrator or the Microsoft
Windows user documentation for more information on Administrator privileges.
Extract Driver from the Dell Resource CD
Insert the Dell Resource CD into
the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
If the Dell Resource CD window does
not open automatically, double-click My Computer on your
desktop and then double-click the CD/DVD-ROM drive containing the Dell
Resource CD.
Follow the instructions provided by the Dell
Resource CD to locate the driver package for your graphics card.
Once you have located the package, select it to unzip
the driver on to the hard drive. The files are extracted by default directory
to the C:\Dell\Drivers\xxxxx(where xxxxx
is the Dell release number of the driver being unzipped).
At the WinZip Self-Extractor screen,
click OK.
At the Dell Computer Self-Extracting Driver
Installation screen, click Unzip. Once the files
have been unzipped, click OK.
In a moment, your browser opens with further instructions
for installing the driver.
Installing the Updated Driver
NOTE:
The following instructions refer to installation of the driver from
your Dell Resource CD. If you downloaded the driver from the Dell, Inc.
Support web site, then in instruction 3 below type the correct path on
your hard drive where the new driver has been downloaded.
This driver must be installed by a user with Windows
Administrator privileges. Please consult your system administrator or
the Microsoft Windows user's guide for more information on Administrator
privileges.
Start Microsoft Windows.
Double click on the Setup.exe file
located with the driver package. If you extracted the drivers from the
Dell Resource CD using the default directory they will be located in C:\Dell\Drivers\xxxxx(where xxxxx is the name of the driver being
unzipped).
At the InstallShield screen, click
Next to begin the driver install procedure. Follow the
InstallShield instructions to install your driver.
Click Finish to complete the driver
installation.
When prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
Steps to follow if your NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE-based graphics card
is not recognized by Windows
These drivers must be installed by a user with Windows
Administrator privileges. Consult your system administrator or the Microsoft
Windows user's guide for more information on Administrator privileges.
Start Windows.
From the Windows taskbar, click Start >
Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click the Add/Remove Hardware
icon.
Click Next.
If the Add/Troubleshoot a device
option is not selected, select it and click Next.
Click and highlight the Video Controller
(VGA Compatible) option and click Next.
The message "The driver for this device are not installed. (Code
28)" is displayed.
Click Finish. The Upgrade
Device Driver Wizard windows appear.
Click Next.
Select Search for a suitable driver for my
device (recommended) and click Next.
Under Optional Search Locations,
select Specify a location only and click Next.
Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\xxxxx
in the space provided and click OK.
After Windows finds the drivers, click Next.
Files will be copied.
Click Finish.
Restart your computer.
Changing Display Driver Settings
From the Windows taskbar, click Start >
Settings > Control Panel.
Double-click the Display icon to
access the Display Properties page.
Click the Settings tab, then select
the screen resolution and color depth you want. Refer to Modifying
Display Modes for supported resolutions.
Click OK and click Yes
to keep your settings.
The installation (or reinstallation) of the NVIDIA Windows Display Driver
is now complete.
