Pre-removal steps:
- During installation or removal of any hardware, always turn off the
computer and ensure that all data is backed up properly.
- Disconnect any telephone, network, and USB cables from the computer.
- Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical
outlets.
- Remove the
computer cover.
- Remove the
top shielding.
- Remove the
processor fan.
- Remove the
processor heat sink.
Whenever opening the computer, lay it flat with the LCD facing down on a
soft towel or surface that will not scratch the glass face. The foam inserts
from the computer packaging can be used to protect the glass face of the LCD. A
cleaning/wipe cloth was included with the computer originally that can be used
for this purpose.
