Removing Speakers

CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

  2. Remove any installed ExpressCards from the ExpressCard slot.

  3. Remove any installed memory modules or Mini Cards (see Memory and Communication Cards).

  4. Remove the hard drive (see Hard Drive).

  5. Remove the palm rest (see Palm Rest).

  6. Remove the audio connector board from the system board by removing the screw and the audio connector cable. See Removing the Audio Connector Board.

  7. Remove the two speaker screws (one on each speaker) from the computer base.

  8. Disconnect the speaker connector from the system board.

  9. Remove the two speakers by lifting them up.

Removing the Audio Connector Board

  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

  2. Remove the palm rest (see Palm Rest).

  3. Remove the screw securing the audio connector board.

  4. Remove the audio connector cable from the system board.

  5. Remove the audio connector board by lifting it up.

Removing the Consumer Infrared Board

  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

  2. Remove the palm rest (see Palm Rest).

  3. Remove the two screws securing the consumer infrared board.

  4. Remove the infrared connector cable from the system board.

  5. Remove the consumer infrared board by lifting it up.
