Removing the Speaker
Replacing the Speaker
CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide .
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
Removing the Speaker
Follow the instructions in Before You Begin .
Remove any installed ExpressCards from the ExpressCard slot.
Remove any installed memory modules or Mini Cards (see Memory and
Communication Cards ).
Remove the hard drive (see Removing the Hard Drive ).
Remove the hinge covers and center control cover (see Removing the
Hinge Covers and Center Control Cover ).
Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard ).
Remove the display assembly (see Removing the Display Assembly ).
Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest ).
Disconnect the button board cable connector from the system board (see
Removing the Button Board ).
Remove the two speaker screws (one on each speaker) from the computer
base.

Disconnect the speaker cable connector from the system board.
Make note of the speaker cable routing.
Remove the speakers.
Replacing the Speaker
Replace the speakers and the speaker cables.
Connect the speaker cable connector to the system board.
Replace the two speaker screws (one on each speaker) that secure the
speakers to the computer base.
Connect the button board cable connector to the system board.
Replace the palm rest (see Replacing the Palm Rest ).
Replace the display assembly (see Replacing the Display Assembly ).
Replace the keyboard (see Replacing the Keyboard ).
Replace the hinge covers and center control cover (see Replacing the
Hinge Covers and Center Control Cover ).
Replace the hard drive (see Replacing the Hard Drive ).
Reinstall the memory modules or Mini Cards, if any.
Reinstall the ExpressCards in the ExpressCard slot, if any.
