Replacing the Computer Cover

XPS One™ Service Manual


CAUTION: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer. For additional safety best practices information, see the Regulatory Compliance Homepage at www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance.
CAUTION: To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before removing the cover.
NOTICE: Ensure that sufficient space exists to support the system with the cover removed—at least 30 cm (1 ft.) of desk top space.
  1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.

NOTICE: Before opening your computer, ensure that you place the computer on a soft cloth or clean surface to avoid any scratches on the display.
  1. Place the computer face down on a flat surface.

  2. Loosen the two captive screws securing the computer cover.

  3. Slide the computer cover towards the top and lift it away from the computer.

  1. To replace the computer cover, ensure that all the cables are connected and that no tools or extra parts (including screws) are left inside the computer.

  2. Pivot the cover down and into position.

  3. Push the cover until it clicks into place.

  4. Tighten the two captive screws that secure the computer cover.

  5. Connect your computer and all attached devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on.
