Removing an FCM Card
Replacing an FCM Card

CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions that shipped with your computer. |
The FCM card is an internal memory card that helps to improve the performance of your computer.

NOTE: The card is only compatible with the Microsoft® Windows Vista® operating system. |
If you ordered an FCM card with your computer, the card is already installed.
Removing an FCM Card
- Follow the procedures in Before Working on Your Computer.
- Remove the hard drive (see Removing the Hard Drive).
- Remove the WLAN card (see Removing a WLAN Card).
- Remove the hinge cover (see Removing the Hinge Cover).
- Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard).
- Remove the display assembly (see Removing the Display Assembly).
- Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest).
- Remove the M2 x 3-mm screw that secures the FCM card to the system
board.
- Slide the FCM card out of the card connector on the system board at a 45-
degree angle.

NOTE: This procedure assumes that you have completed the removal procedure first. |
- Insert the FCM card into the card connector on the system board at a
45-degree angle.
- Replace the M2 x 3-mm screw.
- Replace the palm rest (see Replacing the Palm Rest).
- Replace the display assembly (see Replacing the Display Assembly).
- Replace the keyboard (see Replacing the Keyboard).
- Replace the hinge cover (see Replacing the Hinge Cover).
- Replace the WLAN card (seeReplacing a WLAN Card).
- Replace the hard drive (see Replacing the Hard Drive).
