  Replacing the Top Cover

CAUTION: Only a certified service technician should perform repairs on your computer. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell™ is not covered by your warranty.
CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer).

Removing the Top Cover

  1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.

  2. Press the top cover release button at the back of the computer. The top cover will pop up.

  3. Lift the top cover away from the computer.

Replacing the Top Cover

  1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.

  2. Align the tabs on the top cover with the slots on the computer and snap the top cover into place.
