Removing the Modem

CAUTION: Before performing the following procedures, read the safety instructions in your Owner's Manual.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.

1. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer."
   
   
2. Remove the keyboard.
   
   
3. Remove the display assembly.
   
   
4. Remove the palm rest.
   
   
5. Remove the M2 x 3-mm screw.

6. Disconnect the modem cable from the modem.
   
   

NOTICE: Do not disconnect the modem cable from the system board.

7. Pull up on the pull-tab to disconnect the modem from the system board connector.
   
   

Installing the Modem

1. Connect the modem cable to the modem.

NOTICE: Ensure that the modem cable is routed correctly when you replace the modem.

2. Route the modem cable.

NOTICE: Do not press down on the left side of the modem while installing it.

3. Starting from the lower left corner of the modem, gently roll in the top-left corner of the modem, placing it underneath the sponge. Gently rolling in the modem prevents the top left corner of the modem from contacting the system board and damaging parts. 
   
   
4. Ensure the modem is aligned correctly, and replace the M2 x 3-mm screw.
