CAUTION: Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Before Working Inside Your Computer) before working inside the computer.
NOTICE: The hinge cover is fragile and can be damaged if extreme force is used. Be careful when removing the hinge cover.

Removing the Hinge Cover

  1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

NOTICE: To help avoid damage to the hinge cover, ensure that it is snapped securely into place before you rotate the display open to 180 degrees.
  1. Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat against your work surface.

  2. Using a small scribe, insert the scribe on the right side of the hinge cover to gently pry the hinge cover loose.

  3. Pulling up from right to left, gently remove the hinge cover.

Replacing the Hinge Cover

With the display open all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat against the work surface, snap the cover back into place, starting from left to right.
