NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).
NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the computer.

Replacing the Display Assembly

  1. Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.

  2. Remove the palm rest. See Replacing the Palm Rest.

NOTE: Note how the display cable and the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable have been connected on the system board.

  1. Pull the display cable tab to disconnect the display cable from the system board connector.

  2. Disconnect the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable from the system board connector.

  3. Remove the four M2.5 x 3-mm screws from the display hinges.

  4. Lift and remove the display assembly from the computer base.

  5. To replace the display assembly, route and connect the display cable to the connector on the system board.

  6. Route and connect the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable to the connector on the system board.

  7. Replace the four M2.5 x 3-mm screws on each side of the display assembly.

  8. Replace the palm rest. See Replacing the Palm Rest.

  9. Slide the battery into the battery bay, until it clicks in place and slide the battery-lock latch towards the lock position.


Replacing the Display Bezel

NOTICE: The display bezel is extremely fragile. Be careful when removing it to prevent damaging the bezel.
  1. Remove the display assembly (see Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.).

  1. Remove the two rubber bumpers at the bottom of the display bezel on either side.

  2. Remove the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws at the bottom of the display bezel on either side.



  1. Using your fingertips, carefully pry up the inside edge of the display bezel.

  2. Remove the display bezel.

  3. To replace the display bezel, align the display bezel over the display panel, and gently snap into place.

  4. Replace the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws at the bottom of the display bezel on either side.

  5. Replace the two rubber bumpers at the bottom of the display bezel on either side.

  6. Replace the display assembly (see Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.).


Replacing the Display Panel

  1. Remove the display assembly (see Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.).

  2. Remove the display bezel (see Replacing the Display Bezel).

  1. Remove the six M2.5 x 3-mm screws securing the display panel.

NOTE: Note how the cables have been routed to the display panel.
  1. Disconnect the cables from the connectors on either side of the inverter board and the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable from the connector on the camera board.

  2. Remove the display panel.

M2 x 2.5-mm screws (4)

  1. Remove the four M2 x 2.5-mm screws (two on each side) that secure the display panel bracket to the display panel.

  2. To replace the display panel, align the display panel bracket with the display panel.

  3. Replace the four M2 x 2.5-mm screws that secure the display panel brackets to each side of the display panel.

  4. Replace the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable.

  5. Align the display panel with the display panel frame and replace the six M2.5 x 3-mm screws.

  6. Route the cables back through their routing channels.

  7. Replace the cables from the connectors on either side of the inverter board and the 2-in-1 camera and LVDS cable from the connector on the camera board.

  8. Replace the display bezel (see Replacing the Display Bezel).

  9. Replace the display assembly (see Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.).
