Precautionary Measures | Procedures

Before you remove or replace parts in the system, read the following warning and
caution for your personal safety and to prevent damage to the system from ESD.

WARNING: For your personal safety and protection of
the equipment, perform the following steps in the sequence listed before you start to work
on the system.
- Turn off the computer and any attached peripherals.
- Disconnect the computer and any attached peripherals from their power sources to
reduce the potential for personal injury.
- Disconnect any telephone or telecommunications lines from the computer.
- Wear a wrist grounding strap, and clip it to an unpainted metal surface, such as
the security cable ring on the back of the chassis. If a wrist grounding strap is not
available, touch an unpainted metal surface on the back of the computer to discharge any
static charge from your body.

CAUTION: Make sure all other system cables are
connected before connecting the computer to its power source. |
Unless otherwise noted, each of the following procedures assumes:
- You have the recommended tools.
- You have performed the steps listed in the Warning in Precautionary
Measures.
- You have removed the computer cover.
- You can replace or reinstall a part by performing the removal procedure in reverse
order.

- Small flat-blade screwdriver
- Wide flat-blade screwdriver
- #1 and #2 Phillips screwdrivers
- 1/4-inch nutdriver
- Tweezers or long-nose pliers
- Wrist grounding strap
