If the monitor cannot display errors or problems, the computer
may emit a series of beeps that identifies the problem. The beep
code indicates the number of beeps that will be emitted. Some
codes consist of 2 sound bursts; for example, 1 beep followed by
3 beeps indicates no monitor connected. The system cannot
complete the boot routine with any of the indicated conditions
except for beep code 8.
