Palm Rest

Dell™ Latitude™ X1 Service Manual


CAUTION: Before performing the following procedures, read the safety instructions in your Product Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
  1. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer."

  2. Close the display and turn the computer upside down on a flat work surface.

  3. Remove the six M2.5 x 5-mm screws from the bottom of the computer.

  1. Remove the keyboard.

  2. Remove the display assembly.

NOTICE: You must remove the display assembly before you remove the palm rest; the display hinges pass through the back of the palm rest.
  1. Remove the memory shield.

  2. Remove the thermal cooling assembly.

  3. Remove the M2.5 x 5-mm screw labeled "P."

NOTICE: Carefully separate the palm rest from the computer base to avoid damage to the palm rest.
  1. Use your fingers to separate the palm rest from the computer base.

  2. Lift the palm rest, pulling apart the snaps on the base.

  3. Disconnect the touch pad cable from ZIF connector on the system board.
