CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions that shipped with your computer.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).
NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the computer.
Remove the two screws securing the center control cover from the battery
bay.
Turn the computer over and open the display as far as possible.
Pry out the center control cover with your fingers starting from the battery
bay location at the back of the system.
NOTICE: To avoid damage to the data cable connected to the system board, ensure that you do not pull hard when you are lifting the center control cover.
Ease the center control cover up.

Remove the keyboard surround by easing it out using a scribe (see
Removing the Keyboard).
Remove the two screws from the top of the keyboard.
NOTICE: The key caps on the keyboard are fragile, easily dislodged, and time-consuming to replace. Be careful when removing and handling the keyboard.
Lift the keyboard and hold it up and slightly forward to access the media
control buttons connector on the system board.

Disconnect the media control buttons cable from the connector on the
system board.
