Jumper Settings

Set the jumpers on the back of the drive in accordance with the configuration of your computer system. The jumpers are preset to the CSEL position.

Jumper Setting Description
Master (MA) Configures the drive as the master.

Set the DVD+RW drive as master if the drive is the only device connected to the IDE card.

Slave (SL) Configures the drive as the slave.

Set the DVD+RW drive as slave if the drive is daisy-chained with a hard-disk drive on an IDE card.

CSEL (CS) Configures the drive by using host interface signal CSEL (Cable Select).

This is the default setting for Dell desktop and workstation systems.

NOTE: Do not use any other jumper setting. If no jumper is present the drive will default to Cable Select.
