Logical Drives
The following software drivers for Microsoft� Windows NT
Server 3.x and 4.x are provided on the Dell Server Assistant CD.

The Windows NT drivers support:
- 2 RAID controllers per host system
- 8 logical drives per adapter
- 6 non-disk devices per adapter

NOTE: Use SCSI IDs 1 through 6 for non-disk devices. |
Use this installation procedure if you are installing Windows NT 3.x
or 4.x for the first time and you want to include the operating system drivers and
utilities.
The directory pathname for the Windows NT 4.0 drivers is \perc\ntdrvrs\nt40.
The directory path for the Windows NT 3.51 drivers is \perc\ntdrvrs\nt351.
- Create a driver diskette from the Dell Server Assistant CD. See
the instructions provided with the Dell Server Assistant CD.
- When prompted to choose between standard and custom setup, select Custom
Setup.
The installation procedure scans for a disk controller.
- Choose S to skip detection.
- Select Specify Additional SCSI Adapters.
- Choose Other... from the list of displayed devices.
The installation program prompts for the manufacturer-supplied
hardware support disk.
- Insert the Windows NT installation diskette and follow the Windows NT
setup instructions on the screen.
If you are already running Windows NT and want to add the Windows NT
driver and utilities:
- Create a driver diskette from the Dell Server Assistant CD. See
the instructions provided with the Dell Server Assistant CD.
- Run the Windows NT Explorer. Click on the A (or B) drive to display the
contents of the Windows NT installation diskette.
- Click on the setup.exe file and follow the instructions on
the screen.
This procedure installs the operating system drivers for either
Windows NT 3.x or Windows NT 4.x, depending on which version you are
running.
- You must reboot the computer after the Windows NT drivers installation
has completed successfully.
Logical drives can be configured on the PowerEdge SCSI adapter via the PowerEdge RAID Console, a RAID
management utility in a GUI. The logical drives can be configured in Windows NT using Disk
Administrator.
