Dell-Installed Drives

Dell performs the installation and setup of a DVD-ROM configuration before shipping your system. A native ATAPI device driver that works with this drive is included in the Windows operating system that Dell installed on your system. The drive is ready for use when you receive your system. No further installation or configuration is necessary.

Drives Purchased Separately as Customer Kits

Procedure :

Install the DVD-ROM reader.
-Remove the DVD-ROM reader from its packaging.
-Turn off the power to your computer and unplug the power cord.
-Remove the cover, face plate and clips or brackets used to secure internal devices.
-Please check the manual of your computer or contact Dell customer service
when you mount the DVD-ROM reader to your computer.
-If you are upgrading from another DVD-ROM reader, determine whether your old reader
has an IDE interface, then disconnect and remove the old reader from your bay.
Verify Jumpers are set to CSEL (Cable Select) as shown in the Jumper Settings section of this users guide.
Locate the secondary IDE connector.
Connect to your existing secondary IDE connector.
Connect the audio cable between the DVD-ROM drive and the sound card.
Connect the power cable.
Close your computer.
Install your driver software.
