Features List

EMC VisualSAN

The primary features of EMC VisualSAN are automatic discovery of SAN devices, representation of discovered elements, event management, zone management, asset inventory reporting, and application launch. EMC VisualSAN also includes a support management feature. This feature allows the user to take baseline (known good) and problem configuration captures and send them to Dell technical support via email.

Performance Module (PM)

This module allows users to monitor the performance of certain devices and display this information on graphs and tables. Real-time graphs display the live performance of a device, while historical tables display the performance information logged in the database. The system checks the status of devices, or polls devices, at defined intervals. If a device's status is performing within a critical threshold range, the system can generate an alert notification. For easier monitoring, threshold ranges can also appear on the real-time graphs.

Configuration Module (CM)

With this module, a configuration capture takes an image of the state of a SAN configuration at a user-defined point in time for comparison, historical reference, and change management. For example, you can capture the baseline SAN configuration so that any future changes could be compared with this baseline. Additionally, you can set parameters so that a capture is taken whenever a change in the SAN occurs. Furthermore, you can set parameters so that an alert is sent to notify the system administrator of any changes.
