Preface: Dell™ PowerVault™ 660F and 224F Storage Systems Service Manual

A prerequisite for using this manual to service Dell systems is a basic knowledge of IBM-compatible PCs and prior training in IBM-compatible PC troubleshooting techniques. In addition to information provided in this manual and in the User's Guide that came with the system, Dell provides the Installation and Troubleshooting Guide for troubleshooting procedures and instructions on using Dell Diagnostics to test the computer system.

The sections are summarized as follows:

  • "Safety Instructions" — Lists safety guidelines and precautions you should take to ensure your own safety and help protect your system from potential damage.

  • "System Overview" — Provides an overview of the system's service features and technical specifications.

  • "Removing and Replacing Parts" — Describes the removal and replacement of all field-replaceable parts, including power supplies, cooling modules, I/Omodules, LS modules, and SCSI hard-disk drives.
