About Dell OpenManage™ DAE-MON: Dell OpenManage™ DAE-MON Installation and Operation Guide

Overview

Overview

Dell OpenManage™ DAE-MON (Disk Array Enclosure Monitor) lets you monitor the Dell PowerVault™ 250F and 251F Disk-Array Enclosure (DAE) storage systems connected to a Microsoft®, Windows NT®, host, called a server. The PowerVault™ 250F storage system consists of one rackmount DAE. The PowerVault™ 251F storage system consists of one deskside DAE.

DAE-MON runs on the server to which the DAEs are connected.

To determine the status of the DAEs connected to the server, DAE-MON periodically polls each DAE, and gathers any alarms or events that the DAEs have generated. Each time it polls a DAE, it updates the status information that it stores for the DAE. You can view this status information by opening the DAE-MON windows. These windows contain either an icon for each DAE being monitored, an icon for each of the customer-replaceable units (CRUs) that make up a DAE, or information about the state of a CRU.

What next?

Continue to "Installing DAE-MON" to install DAE-MON on a Windows NT server.
