The TrueMobile 1150 Series Client Manager is a software utility that
you can use to:
Check the quality of your wireless connection.
View/change the settings of your network connection.
Monitor your network connection.
On all computers that are not New Dell computers, you must install the Client Manager
Utility from the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series CD. New Dell computers that were
ordered with TrueMobile 1150 Series already have Client Manager installed. Do the
following:
Insert the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series CD into the CD-ROM drive of your
computer. If the Main Menu screen below does not appear automatically, select Start->Run
and then type x:\setup.exe (where x:\ is your CD-ROM drive letter) and click OK.
Click on Install Software.
On the Software Menu screen, click on Install Client Manager and follow
the instructions to complete the installation.
The TrueMobile Client Manager icon will now appear on the desktop. Double-click
the icon on the desktop and then double-click the icon that appears in the system tray to
start Client Manager. You can also start Client Manager by clicking Start->Programs->Dell
TrueMobile 1150->Client Manager and then double-clicking the icon that appears in
the system tray.
Note: It is recommended that you configure the Client Manager to start
whenever Microsoft® Windows® starts.
Installing your TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card
Follow the steps below to install the TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card into your portable and desktop computers.
Turn your computer ON.
Insert the TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card into your desktop computer or
portable computer as shown in the Figure below.

Complete the installation based on the operating system that is running on your
computer.
Windows 95 will automatically detect the TrueMobile PC Card, briefly open a New
Hardware Found window, and start collecting information for a driver information database.
If your system was purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, the drivers
will load automatically and you will be asked to restart your computer (Go to step 13
now). If your system was not purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card,
proceed to step 2.
The Update Device Driver window appears. Insert the Dell TrueMobile 1150
Series CD, wait 10 seconds, and click Next.
At the next window, select Other Locations.
At the next window, type x:\95 (where x:\ is the usual drive letter for your
CD-ROM drive. Your drive letter may be different from this example, however.) Click OK.
The Update Device Driver Wizard window now displays "Windows found the following
updated driver for this device: TrueMobile 1150 PC Card." Click Finish.
The following screen only appears when Windows has detected that networking has not been
installed and will install it. Click OK.
Windows requires that you enter a computer name and workgroup name. Type a name to
identify the computer in the Computer name entry field. Type the name of the
workgroup that the computer will be associated with in the Workgroup entry field.
With the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series CD in the CD-ROM, click OK.
Windows will ask for the location of the PCX500.sys file. Type x:\95
(where x is the CD-ROM drive letter). Click OK.
If Windows prompts for the location of the vxX500.vxd file, type x:\95
in the text entry filed. Click OK.
Windows will prompt for the Windows 95 CD-ROM. Click OK.
If the required Windows files are installed on your computer, they may be located in
C:\Windows\Options\Cabs. Type C:\Windows\Options\Cabs. Click OK to copy the
required files. If Windows prompts you for the Windows CD, insert the Windows CD that came
with your computer into the CD-ROM drive. Type x:\95 (where x is the CD-ROM
drive letter). Click OK to copy the required files.
If the following screen appears, click Yes to restart your
computer. If the following screen does not appear, Click Start->Shutdown->Restart
to restart your computer.
The driver installation is complete. To confirm that the installation
was successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Double click on the System icon.
Click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on the plus next to Network Adapters.
"TrueMobile 1150 PC Card" should appear on the list. If there is
a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows 98 PC Card Installation
Windows 98 will automatically detect the TrueMobile PC Card, briefly open a New
Hardware Found window, and start collecting information for a driver information
database. If your system was purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, the
drivers will load automatically and you will be asked to restart your computer (Go to step
8 now). If your system was not purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card,
proceed to step 2.
The Add New Hardware Wizard appears. Insert the Dell TrueMobile 1150
Series CD, wait 10 seconds, and click Next.
At the next window, select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended),
and click Next.
At the next window, uncheck Floppy disk drives and click
Specify a location.
Type x:\win98 (where x is the
letter for your CD or DVD drive), and then click Next.
When Windows finds the driver, click Next.
Note: During the installation, you may be prompted with dialog boxes asking you
to enter a path to additional required files. If the required Windows files are installed
on your computer, they may be located in the folder C:\Windows\Options\Cabs. Type C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.
Click OK to copy the required files. If Windows again prompts you for the Windows
CD, insert the Windows CD that came with your computer into your CD-ROM drive. Type x:\win98
in the entry field (where x is the CD-ROM drive letter). Click OK to copy
the required files.
Click Finish.
Click Yes to restart your computer.
The driver installation is complete. To confirm that the installation
was successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Double click on the System icon.
Click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on Network Adapters.
"TrueMobile 1150 PC Card" should appear on the list. If there is
a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows Millennium Edition (Me) PC Card Installation
If your system was purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, the drivers
will load automatically and you will be asked to restart your computer (Go to step
6 now).
If your system was not purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, proceed to
step 2.
When the Add New Hardware
Wizard appears, insert the TrueMobile CD, and wait 10 seconds.
Click Specify a location, and ensure that Floppy disk drives,
CD-ROM drives, and Microsoft Windows Update are not
checked.
Type x:/me-2k (where x is the letter of your CD or DVD drive) and then
click Next.
After Windows finds the driver, click Next.
Click Finish, and then click Yes to restart your computer.
The driver installation is complete. To confirm that the installation was
successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Click on view all control panel options.
Double click on the System icon.
Click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on the plus next to Network Adapters.
"TrueMobile 1150 PC Card" should appear on the list. If there
is a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows NT With the Softex PC Card Controller PC Card
Installation
Before you begin the installation, the MS loopback adapter device must be
removed from the system. To remove the adapter, perform the following steps:
Open the Control Panel and double-click the Network icon.
Click the Adapters tab.
Select the MS Loopback Adapter listed in the box, and click Remove.
A warning message will appear. Click Yes to continue.
Click Close.
Click Yes to restart your computer.
When your computer restarts, you may see the following message: "At least
one service or driver has failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the
event log for details." This message is normal for this procedure.
To install a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, perform the following steps:
After your computer restarts, insert the PC Card into the slot.
Insert the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series CD and click OK.
In the Path Name entry field, type x:\nt4 (where x is the
CD-ROM driver letter). Click OK.
At the next window, select TrueMobile 1150
Series PC Card.
If you are assigning an IP address, enter the IP
Address, Subnet Mask, and the Default Gateway in the entry fields. Click OK. If you
are using a DHCP server, select Obtain an IP Address from a DHCP server. Click OK.
If you chose to use a DHCP server, click Yes at
the next window.
Click OK.
Windows will now prompt to reboot the computer. Click Reboot
Now.
The driver installation is complete. To confirm that the installation was successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Click on view all control panel options.
Double click on the System icon.
Click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on Network Adapters.
"TrueMobile 1150 PC Card" should appear on the list. If there
is a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows NT Without the Softex PC Card Controller PC
Card Installation
Before you begin the installation, the MS loopback adapter device must be

Click the Adapters tab.

Select the TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card. If
you are assigning an IP address, enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and the Default
Gateway in the entry fields. If you are using a DHCP server, select Obtain an IP
Address from a DHCP server. Click OK.
Click Yes.
Click OK.
Windows will now prompt to reboot the computer. Click Reboot

is a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows 2000 PC Card Installation
If your system was purchased with a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, the drivers
will load automatically and you will be finished. If this is not the case, proceed below.
After you insert the TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, the Found New Hardware
Wizard appears. Insert the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series CD , wait 10 seconds,
and click Next.
Select Search for a suitable driver for my device(recommended).
Click Next.
Select Specify a location. Click Next.
Type x:\me-2k (where x is the letter of
your CD or DVD drive). Click Next.
Click Finish. You will not need to restart your computer.
The driver installation is complete. To confirm the installation was successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Double click on the System icon.
Click on the Hardware tab.
Click on the DeviceManager button.
Click on NetworkAdapters.
"TrueMobile 1150 PC Card" should appear on the list. If there is
a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the Troubleshooting section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel,
the installation was successful.
Windows XP PC Card Installation
After you insert the TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card, Windows XP detects the card and
installs the drivers automatically. You will not be prompted with any screens and you do not need to restart the computer.
To confirm that the installation was successful:
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
Double-click the System icon.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the DeviceManager button.
Click NetworkAdapters.
TrueMobile 1150 PC Card should appear on the list. If there is
a red x or yellow exclamation point, see the "Troubleshooting" section. If no red x or
yellow exclamation point appears next to the network adapter icon in the Control Panel, the installation was successful.
