Upgrade Procedure For Windows Operating System to Windows XP
NOTE: Windows XP has a Microsoft provided driver for the CNet
PRO200WL. During an upgrade from previous Windows Operating Systems to Windows
XP operating system, the original factory installed drivers (that supported your
original Windows) will be automatically updated with Windows XP drivers.
Installing drivers for Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, and Windows XP
Turn on the power of your PC to boot your Windows
OS. The system auto-detects that your new adapter is installed, and the "New
Hardware Found" dialogue box will appear. You will be prompted to specify
how/where the driver can be found by searching or
specifying the driver
location.
NOTE: If the CNet drivers are already loaded on your system, you will not be prompted. Windows will automatically load
your drivers and ask for a reboot.
Select "Specify Location".
Enter the folder (directory path) of the CNet
driver that was extracted from the Dell Dimension Resource CD in the previous
section. The normal path will be "C:\Dell\Drivers\PRO200WL",
unless you specified a different folder when you extract the driver from the
Resource CD. After entering the correct folder location, select "Next" to
continue.
Select "CNet PRO200WL PCI Fast Ethernet
Adapter", which will start installing the CNet driver onto your system.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
When the driver installation is completed, you will
be prompted to restart Windows.
Using your adapter
To use your adapter, connect it to a
network.
Plug one (1) end of a Network cable into the Adapters
RJ-45 socket.
Plug the other end of the cable into a 100BASE-TX
or 10BASE-T Hub (or Switch) port.
Verify that the green "Link" LED is lit after
the cables are properly plugged in, which will indicate a good physical
connection has been established between the CNet card and Hub (or Switch).
NOTE: The "Speed" LED will be
solid green anytime the system is powered "ON". This does not matter
if the cable is plugged or unplugged. This LED will be turned "OFF",
if the network speed is switched to operate in 10Mbps mode.
