If the monitor displays the color bar pattern, the monitor is functioning properly.
Turn power to the monitor off and then on to auto-degauss the monitor. Before
degaussing a second time, wait a minimum of 20 minutes (for best results). This monitor is
equipped with a manual degauss button. To degauss the monitor, enter the Option OSD menu.
This monitor complies with VESA Display Data Channel (DDC) standards, which support
Plug and Play features that simplify monitor installation. DDC technology provides a
mechanism for the video subsystem firmware and operating system to automatically determine
the capabilities of the attached monitor, and configures the monitor's operating
parameters accordingly. If your computer does not support this standard, you can still use
the monitor with your computer, but you may need to specify manually the proper display
resolution.
| Symptom |
Possible Solution |
| The power indicator is not lit. |
- Make sure the power cord is properly connected.
- Make sure the power switch is in the On position.
|
The no input signal message appears, or the
power indicator is either orange or alternating between green and orange. |
- Press any key on the computer keyboard.
- Make sure your computer is turned on.
- Make sure the video signal cable is properly connected and all plugs are firmly seated
in their sockets.
- Make sure none of the HD15 video-input connector pins are bent or pushed in.
- Make sure the video board is completly seated in the proper bus slot.
|
The out of scan range message appears. |
- Make sure the video frequency range is within that specified for the monitor.
- If you are using a video signal cable adapter, make sure it is the correct type.
|
| No message is displayed, and the power indicator is green or
flashing orange. |
- Run the self-test function.
- Make sure none of the HD15 video input connector pins are bent or pushed in.
|
| Picture is scrambled. |
Make sure your system's graphics mode and video frequency are
supported by this monitor. Even within the proper range, some video boards may have a sync
pulse that is too narrow for the monitor to synchronize with correctly. |
| Color is not uniform. |
Turn power to the monitor off, then on to auto-degauss the
monitor. Before degaussing a second time, wait a minimum of 20 minutes (for best results). |
| You cannot adjust the monitor with the buttons on the front
panel. |
If the Control Lock function is set to On, set it to Off
using the Option OSD. |
| Screen image is not centered or sized properly. |
|
| Edges of the image are curved. |
Adjust the geometry using the Geometry OSD. |
| White lines show red or blue shadows at edges. |
Adjust the convergence using the Screen OSD. |
| Picture is fuzzy. |
- Adjust the contrast or brightness.
- Degauss the monitor using the Option OSD.
- If red or blue shadows appear along the edges of the images, adjust the convergence
using the Screen OSD.
- If the moire is cancelled, the picture may become fuzzy. Decrease the moire cancellation
effect using the Screen OSD.
|
| Picture bounces or has wavy oscillations. |
- Isolate and eliminate any potential sources of electric or magnetic fields. Common
causes for this symptom are electric fans, fluorescent lighting, and laser printers.
- If another monitor is positioned close to this monitor, increase the distance between
them to reduce the interference.
- Plug the monitor into a different AC outlet, preferably on a different circuit.
- Use the monitor with a different computer in a different room.
|
| Picture is flickering. |
Refer to your computer system's user's guide, and change your
display refresh rate settings so they match the monitor's capabilities. |
| Picture appears to be ghosting. |
Eliminate the use of video cable extensions and/or video
switch boxes. Excessive cable length or a weak connection can produce this symptom. |
| Wavy or elliptical (moire) pattern is visible. |
- Cancel the moire using the Screen OSD.
- Due to the relationship between resolution, monitor dot pitch, and the pitch of some
image patterns, certain screen backgrounds sometimes show moire. Change your desktop
pattern.
|
| Two fine horizontal lines (wires) are visible. |
These damper wires stabilize the vertically striped aperture
grille. This aperture grille allows more light to pass through to the screen, giving the
Trinitron CRT more color and brightness. This is not a malfunction. |
| A humming noise is heard right after the power is turned on. |
When the power is turned on, the auto-degauss cycle is
activated. While the auto-degauss cycle is activated, a hum may be heard. The same hum is
heard when the monitor is manually degaussed. This is not a malfunction. |
| White does not look white. |
Adjust the color temperature using the Color OSD. |
