Access Indicator
Power Switch
The power switch is a DC on/off control circuit that is
connected to the soft power push-button switch through the system
PWA. When used with a power supply that supports remote power
on/off, the system board can be turned off from either of two
sources: the front-panel "Remote ON/OFF" switch or a
"soft off" signal (coming from the super I/O
controller) that can be controlled by an operating system.
In "soft off," an APM command issued to the system BIOS
causes the power supply to turn off via the "PS ON"
control signal on the power connector. For example, Windows� 95
issues this APM command when you click on the Shutdown icon.
Power can be restored via a front-panel power button connected to
a front-panel header.
Power Indicator
The power indicator lights up when the system is on.
Reset Button
Pressing the reset button initiates a hardware reset. To avoid
possible data or file structure corruption, use the reset button
only when the system cannot be rebooted with the
<Ctrl><Alt><Del> key combination, and perform
an orderly shutdown of the operating system.
Hard-Disk Drive
Access Indicator
The hard-disk drive access indicator lights up when the
hard-disk drive is being accessed.
Diskette-Drive
Access Indicator
The diskette-drive access indicator lights up
when the diskette drive is being accessed.
