Removing the Cover
Removing the Cover
1. Turn off the power and unplug the power cable.                                                          
                                                                                                           
2. Unscrew the 5 cover-mounting screws on the back of the computer.                                        
                                                                                                           
3. Slide the cover back until it can lift away from the chassis.                                           
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing the Front Bezel
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Pull outward on the upper 2 tabs on the bezel and then the lower 2 tabs to release them from the        
   chassis.                                                                                                 
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing a Drive in a Drive Bay
Drive Hardware
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. If installing a new drive, remove any front panel inserts. From the inside of the system unit cover,    
   press against the tab on each side of the front panel Insertt until it snaps out.                        
                                                                                                           
3. Disconnect any power and interface cables from the drive.                                               
                                                                                                           
4. Remove the 2 mounting screws from each side of the drive, and slide the drive forward and out of the    
   drive bay.                                                                                               
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing a Hard-Disk Drive
Hard-Disk Drive Bracket
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Remove the 2 screws that secure the hard-disk drive bracket to the back of the system unit.             
                                                                                                           
3. Lift the hard-disk drive bracket out of the system unit and disconnect the power and interface cables   
   from the connectors on the back of the drive.                                                            
                                                                                                           
4. Remove the screws on each side of the hard-disk drive bracket that secure the drive inside the bracket, 
   and slide the drive out of the hard-disk drive bracket.                                                  
                                                                                                           


Removing/Replacing the Hard-Disk Drive Cooling Fan
Hard-Disk Drive Cooling Fan Assembly
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Disconnect the fan cable from the Y-shaped power extension cable.                                       
                                                                                                           
3. Remove the 2 screws that secure the fan assembly to the hard-disk drive bracket                         
                                                                                                           
   These screws also serve as mounting screws for the upper drive in the hard-disk drive bracket.          
                                                                                                           
4. Lift the fan assembly out of the system unit.                                                           
                                                                                                           
5. Remove the 4 screws that secure the fan to its mounting bracket and separate the fan from the mounting  
   bracket.                                                                                                 
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing the Card Guide/Fan Assembly
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Release the front bezel from the front of the system unit.                                              
                                                                                                           
3. Disconnect the fan cable and speaker cable from the system board.                                       
                                                                                                           
4. Push inward on the 4 mounting tabs that secure the card guide/fan assembly to the front panel.          
                                                                                                           
5. Remove the assembly from the system unit.                                                               
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing the Power Supply
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Disconnect the DC power cables from the system board, from any drives, and from any expansion cards.    
                                                                                                           
3. Release the front bezel from the front of the system unit.                                              
                                                                                                           
4. Remove the screw that secures the power button assembly to the front of the system unit.                
                                                                                                           
   The screw is located behind the system unit's front panel directly to the right of the upper drive bay. 
                                                                                                           
5. Disengage the power button assembly from the system unit's front panel.                                 
                                                                                                           
6. Remove the 4 screws that secure the power supply to the back of the system unit.                        
                                                                                                           
5. Lift the power supply out of the system unit.                                                           
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing the Microprocessor
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Remove any expansion cards that block access to the microprocessor.                                     
                                                                                                           
3. Remove the microprocessor securing clip from the microprocessor/heat sink assembly.                     
                                                                                                           
   Press on the back of the clip to release it.                                                            
                                                                                                           
4. Press outward and then upward on the microprocessor socket release lever to rotate it to its fully      
   vertical position.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
5. Lift the microprocessor/heat sink assembly out of its socket.                                           
                                                                                                           

Removing/Replacing the System Board
1. Remove the cover.                                                                                       
                                                                                                           
2. Disconnect the keyboard and mouse cables from their port connectors on the I/O panel.                   
                                                                                                           
3. Remove any installed expansion cards.                                                                   
                                                                                                           
4. Disconnect all cables from the system board.                                                            
                                                                                                           
5. Remove the 3 screws that secure the system board to the bottom of the system unit.                      
                                                                                                           
6. Lift the system board up to release it from the plastic standoffs and remove it from the system unit.   
                                                                                                           
7. If installing a new system board, transfer the SIMMs and microprocessor to the replacement board.
