DTA: Storage Devices
Storage Devices
Drive Bay Locations
The system unit provides 2 internal 3.5-inch and 3 external 5.25-inch drive bays. The system board provides a primary IDE hard-disk drive interface connected to the microprocessor's local bus, a secondary IDE device interface connected to the ISA bus, and a diskette/tape controller.
Any IDE hard-disk drives should be connected to the primary IDE interface. The secondary interface is intended primarily for slower IDE devices, such as tape drives or CD-ROM drives.
However, if there are 2 incompatible IDE hard-disk drives, one can be connected to the primary IDE interface, and the other to the secondary. Make sure the faster drive is connected to the primary IDE interface, and configure both drives as single.
NOTE: Without special drivers, MS-DOS will not recognize more than 2 physical hard-disk drives. There are no drivers available to allow this system to recognize more than 2 IDE hard-disk drives.
