DTA: Storage Devices
Storage Devices
The computer has 2 internal half-height (3.5-inch) and 3 external half-height (5.25-inch) drive bays. The system board provides a primary IDE hard-disk drive interface (PRIMARY IDE), a secondary IDE device interface (SECONDARY IDE), and a diskette/tape controller (FLOPPY).
The primary IDE interface is a PCI IDE interface connector and is used with hard-disk drives.
The secondary IDE interface is for use with IDE devices such as tape drives or CD ROM drives and is an ISA IDE interface.
NOTE: Without special drivers, MS-DOS will not recognize more than 2 physical hard-disk drives. There are no drivers available to allow this system to recognize more than 2 IDE hard-disk drives.
Both IDE interfaces support LBA mode, and PIO mode3 data transfers.
Hard-Disk Drive Cooling Fan
The hard-disk drive cooling fan assembly is installed only if a large, high-capacity hard-disk drive is installed in the hard-disk drive bracket (typically a SCSI 700-MB or larger hard-disk drive).
