3.5-VDC Jumper

The XPS Pro200n system uses two versions of the Intel Pentium Pro 200-MHz microprocessor. One version of the Pentium Pro 200-MHz microprocessor requires an input voltage of 3.5 VDC, while the other version of the microprocessor requires an input voltage of 3.3 VDC.

The system board has a 2-pin jumper to change the microprocessor input voltage from 3.3 VDC to 3.5 VDC.

Because the same system board is used for all XPS Proxxxn systems, use the following procedure when you replace the system board or microprocessor in any XPS Proxxxn system:

  1. Remove the heat sink and microprocessor assembly without separating the heat sink and microprocessor.

  2. Look at the bottom of the microprocessor and record the last two lines of identification characters.

Example:

  1. Using the information you recorded and the following table, determine the need to install or remove the 3.5-VDC jumper.
Microprocessor Identification Characters 3.5-VDC Jumper Setting
KB80521EX150xxx SY002 256K or
KB80521EX150xxx SY011 256K (3.3 VDC)
Removed
KB80521EX180xxx SY031 256K or
KB80521EX180xxx SY039 256K (3.3 VDC)
Removed
KB80521EX200xxx SY032 256K or
KB80521EX200xxx SY040 256K (3.3 VDC)
Removed
KB80521EX200xxx SL245 256K or
KB80521EX200xxx SL247 256K (3.5 VDC)
Installed

NOTE: The xxx part of the identification characters may or may not be present.
  1. As needed, remove or install the 3.5-VDC jumper on the system board.

  2. Reinstall the heat sink and microprocessor assembly.

  3. Check the system for correct operation.

Switches

There are no internal configuration switches in this system.

Controls and Indicators

Desktop Front-Panel Controls/Indicators
Mini Tower Front-Panel Controls/Indicators

Power Switch
The power switch is a push-button on/off switch.

Reset Button
Pressing the reset button initiates a hardware reset. To avoid possible data or file structure corruption, use the reset button only when the system cannot be rebooted with the <Ctrl><Alt><Del> key combination, and perform an orderly shutdown of the operating system.

Hard-Disk Drive Access Indicator
The hard-disk drive access indicator lights up when the hard-disk drive is being accessed.

Diskette-Drive Access Indicator
The diskette-drive access indicator lights up when the diskette-drive is being accessed.
