Removing/Replacing the 3.5-Inch Front Panel Inserts

There are 2 types of 3.5-inch front panel inserts:

20000003.gif One has an opening for a 3.5-inch drive

20000003.gif One is solid and completely covers the opening when there is not a drive installed.

1. Remove the cover.
2. Remove the front bezel.
3. Push the 2 insert latches toward the center of the insert to release it.
4. Rotate the insert out the front of the bezel.

Removing/Replacing Metal Drive-Bay Inserts

1. Remove the cover.
2. Remove the front bezel.
3. Hold the insert in place while using a nut driver to unscrew the screws that secure the insert to the system unit.

Removing/Replacing a 5.25-Inch Drive

1. Remove the cover.
2. Remove the front bezel.
3. Remove the metal inserts if needed.
4. Disconnect the power cable and the interface cable from the back of the drive.
5. To remove the drive, squeeze the tabs on each side of the drive, and slide it forward and out of the drive bay.

NOTE: When sliding the new drive into its drive bay, make sure that both drive rail tabs snap into place. If they do not, adjust the position of each drive rail by loosening the screws and sliding the drive rail forward or backward as needed.

Bay Removing/Replacing a Drive in an External 3.5-Inch Drive Bay

1. Remove the cover.
2. Remove the front bezel.
3. Remove all cables from the back of the 3.5-inch diskette drive and the top hard-disk drive.
4. The diskette drive and top hard-disk drive are removed together by unscrewing the top mounting screw on the top hard-disk drive at the front of the chassis.
5. Slide the drive bracket toward the back of the system to disengage the 4 tabs on the top of the bracket.
6. Remove the 2 screws on each side of the 3.5-inch drive bracket, and slide the drive out of the drive bracket.

Removing/Replacing a Hard-Disk Drive

Top hard-disk drive:
1. Remove the cover.
2. Disconnect any cables from the back of the drive.
3. Remove the mounting screws that secure the top hard-disk drive bracket to the 3.5-inch diskette-drive bracket.
4. Remove the top hard-disk-drive mounting screw at the front of the chassis.
5. Slide the bracket toward the back of the chassis to disengage the 4 tabs on the top of the bracket.
6. Remove the 2 screws on each side of the drive; then slide the drive out of the bracket.

Bottom hard-disk drive:
1. Remove the cover.
2. Disconnect the cables from the back of the drive.
3. If the drive is mounted to a carrier plate, remove the 2 bracket-retaining screws at the front of the chassis.
If the drive is mounted directly to the inside wall, remove the 4 screws attaching the drive to the wall.
4. Slide the bottom hard-disk drive bracket up to disengage the bracket from the 2 tabs on the inside wall of the chassis, and remove it.
5. Remove the 2 screws on each side of the drive; then slide the drive out of the bracket.

Removing/Replacing the Power Supply
