- Enter the System Setup program.
Set the system Password category to
Enabled.
- Save the System Setup changes, exit the System Setup
program and reboot the system (press<Esc>).
- Type y when the
following message appears:
Do you want to have a password (Y or N)?
- Type in the password, up to 6 characters.
- Press <Enter> when finished.
- Each time the system boots, the following message
appears:
Please enter your password:
- If the wrong password is entered, an error message
appears. After the third incorrect entry, you must
reboot.
- The <Ctrl><Alt><Del> key combination
does not invoke the system password.
- Turn the system off and then back on.
- When prompted, enter the password.
- Type y when the following
message appears:
Do you want to change your password (Y or N)?
- Type in the password, up to 6 characters.
- Press <Enter> when finished.
If the password is forgotten, clear if from NVRAM (in the RTC
chip) before using the system again.

NOTE: After NVRAM is cleared, all
System Setup program categories revert to their defaults. |
- Turn the system off.
- Remove the jumper from W2, and put it on W5.
- Turn the system on. Leave it on for 10 seconds, then turn
it off.
Turning on the system with W5 jumpered clears NVRAM.
- Remove the jumper from W5, and put it back on W2.
- Turn the system on. Enter the System Setup program, and
reset any options that were selected before clearing
NVRAM.
- Type y when the following
message appears:
Do you want to have a
password (Y or N)?
- Type in the
password, up to 6 characters.
- Press
<Enter> when finished.
