User-Accessible Drives

There are 3 user-accessible drive bays for diskette, tape, and CD-ROM drives.

User-Accessible Drives

Hard-Disk Drives

The internal drive bracket can hold a mix or match of up to 2 half-height IDE and/or SCSI drives.

NOTE: Connector IDE2 is intended for IDE CD-ROM and tape drives when they become available. Hard-disk drives cannot be used on connector IDE2. Like IDE1, it can support a maximum of 2 devices. IDE2 is accessed via the slower ISA bus rather than the VL-Bus.

Internal Drives

If a 1-GB SCSI drive is installed, an extra cooling fan is required.

Configuring SCSI Devices

NOTE: To perform the following steps, refer to the OEM instructions for the SCSI device being installed. Details of ID number jumpers, terminations, and so on can be found there.
  1. Assign the SCSI ID numbers.
  2. Terminate the SCSI devices.
  3. Install a SCSI host adapter, if not already installed.
