The VIEW/UPDATE CONFIGURATION option in the MAIN MENU is used to view, edit, or update an existing configuration. The write policy of any system drive can be changed at any time by selecting this option. If more drives are added, or if existing standby drives are to be used as normal drives, this option may be used.

This option is similar to the NEW CONFIGURATION option. When VIEW/UPDATE CONFIGURATION is selected, a screen is displayed similar to the one in Viewing/Updating the Configuration.

When the DEFINE PACK option is selected, a screen similar to Configured Drives is displayed. Note that the drive matrix in this screen is already filled with details of existing configured drives. Any existing standby drives are denoted in the box as SBY. Any newly added drives will be denoted as RDY or UNF. Any dead drives are denoted in the box as DED.

None of the existing packs can be canceled, deleted, or changed. Only the newly added drives (RDY) and the existing standby (SBY) drives can be used to create one or more packs. The drives with state UNF will need to be low-level formatted before they can be used in a configuration. This is done by selecting TOOLS in the MAIN MENU, as described in Tools. For creating and arranging packs, see Creating a Pack and Arranging a Pack. The DEVICE INFORMATION option may be used to view the drive information as shown in Device Information .

When the DEFINE SYSTEM DRIVE option in the VIEW/UPDATE CONFIGURATION menu is selected, a screen similar to System Drive Write Policy is displayed. Here, the system drive's write policy can be changed using the TOGGLE WRITE POLICY option. Also, if additional packs have been created and arranged, use CREATE SYSTEM DRIVE to create additional system drives. See Creating a System Drive and Toggle Write Policy.

Saving the Updated Configuration

Once all of the system drives are defined, press <ESCRRR to return to the VIEW/UPDATE CONFIGURATION menu. Press <ESCRRR again and a confirmation screen similar to Saving a Configuration is displayed. When you select YES in the SAVE CONFIGURATION? window, the configuration is saved to the flash EEPROM. This completes the configuration process. The next thing to do will be to initialize all of the new system drives. See Initializing a System Drive.

Quitting the Updated Configuration

When NO is selected in the SAVE CONFIGURATION? window, the currently updated configuration is entirely discarded and the utility returns to the MAIN MENU.

Adding to the Updated Configuration

When <ESCRRR is pressed in the SAVE CONFIGURATION? window, the currently updated configuration is reserved and the utility returns to the VIEW/UPDATE CONFIGURATION menu. The user can continue with the configuration process.
