Self-Test

To access the self-test mode, first turn off the monitor and disconnect the video cable from the computer. Turn the monitor back on. The power LED will be green and a self-test image will be displayed. The self-test image displays red, green, and blue bars on a white background. If the self-test image is displayed, any video problems are probably originating elsewhere in the system. Since the self-test mode does not test the cable, be sure to examine the video cable connector for bent pins.

Monitor Installation

  1. Connect the signal cable to the video controller connector at the back of the computer.
  2. Tighten the screws by hand.
  3. Connect the power cord first to the monitor and then to a grounded power outlet.
  4. Turn on the power for both the computer and the monitor.

The picture should appear within 20 seconds. Adjust the picture to obtain optimum picture quality.

If Your Computer is DDC-Compatible

  • Do not use any adapters when connecting a signal cable to your computer.
  • Do not extend the signal cable with an extension lead. The DDC signals will not accept extended cable.

If There is No DDC in Your Computer

There is no need for an adapter when connecting the signal cable to your computer.

Turning the Monitor On and Off

If the power management function of your computer is working properly, you do not need to switch the monitor on or off; it happens automatically.

NOTE: The power switch does not disconnect the monitor from the main lead. In the power-off state, the power consumption of the monitor is less than 5 W. The only way to isolate the monitor completely from the main supply is to unplug the main lead.

Press the power switch to turn the monitor on or off. When the power is turned on, the power-on indicator will light. The color of the power-on indicator represents the operating state of the monitor.

Green The monitor is in normal operation or standby state.
Orange The monitor is in automatic power-off state.
Not illuminated The monitor's power switch is turned off or the monitor is disconnected from the main outlet.

If the SELF TEST message appears when the monitor is switched on, the signal cable has come loose from the computer.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Possible Solution
The indicator on the front panel is not illuminated Check that the power cord is correctly connected to the monitor and the power outlet. If the monitor is powered through the computer, check that the computer is switched on. Check to see if the electrical outlet is getting electricity. Unplug the monitor from the power outlet for about one minute.
The indicator on the front panel is illuminated The monitor might be in standby mode. Press one of the keyboard buttons. Check that the keyboard is connected to the computer. Check that the signal cable connector is properly connected. If the connector is loose, tighten the connector's screws. Unplug the monitor from the power outlet for about one minute.
Screen image is not centered or sized properly, or edges of image are curved Your computer may use a display mode for which the corresponding picture properties have not been set at the factory.
Ghosting Check that the signal cable of the monitor is properly connected to the computer. Check that no extension cable is used in the monitor signal cable.
Picture is fuzzy Adjust contrast and brightness controls. Set moire adjustment to center position (50%).
Picture bounces or a wave pattern is present Move electrical devices that may be causing interference away from the monitor.
Picture is scrambled Make sure the computer and video card are properly configured for your monitor.
Color is not uniform Demagnetize the monitor. If color defect is repeated without the monitor having been moved, it is possible that the monitor is influenced by a strong electric interference field. Try to find another
location for the monitor or the cause of the interference. Note that another monitor placed too near may also generate interference in the picture.
Monitor cannot be adjusted with buttons on front panel Unplug the monitor from the power outlet for about one minute.
SIGNAL OUT OF RANGE message appears The computer uses a display mode that is out of the monitor's synchronization range. Make sure the computer and video card are properly configured for your monitor.
