Adding System Memory
Memory can be increased to a maximum of 64 MB by installing 4-, 8-, 16-, and/or 32-MB SIMMs in 2 SIMM sockets on the system board.
SIMMs and SIMM Sockets
Performing a Memory Upgrade
1. Remove the top and left-side computer covers.
2. Remove the system board. See Removing/Replacing the System Board.
3. Locate SIMM sockets.
4. Install or replace SIMMs, as necessary, to reach desired total.
See Installing/Removing SIMMs.
5. Replace the system board and computer covers, reconnect to power, and turn on.
After POST, the computer displays the total amount of SIMM memory installed.
NOTE: If the amount is incorrect, turn off and disconnect the computer, remove the covers, and make sure the SIMMs are seated properly in their sockets. Then repeat this step.
If the system detects that the new memory does not match the system configuration information in NVRAM,
the following error message appears:
The amount of system memory has changed.
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility.
6. Enter System Setup to check the setting of the SYSTEM MEMORY category.
7. If the total is still incorrect, check the SIMMs again to make sure they are properly installed.
8. When SYSTEM MEMORY is correct, insert the diagnostics diskette into drive A and reboot.
9. Run the RAM Test Group in the diskette-based diagnostics to test all installed SIMMs.

Cache Memory
Systems with Intel486 SX or IntelSX2 microprocessors can be upgraded by installing 128 KB of cache memory (this memory is standard on systems with IntelDX2 and IntelDX4 microprocessors.)
See Installing Cache Memory.
