Using the AC Adapter Converter

The Dell� Latitude� XPi and Dell Token Ring Advanced Port Replicator AC adapter is designed to handle the specific power requirements of the Dell Latitude XPi notebook computer and the Dell Token Ring Advanced Port Replicator.

The Dell AC adapter converter lets you use the Dell Latitude XPi AC adapter with the following Dell products, which have different power requirements:

20000000.gif Dell Latitude XP notebook computers (Dell Latitude XP 450c, 450cx, 475c, 4100c, 4100cx, 475D, 4100D, or 4100T)

20000000.gif Dell Ethernet Advanced Port Replicator

20000000.gif Battery charger

Before you connect the AC adapter to a Dell Latitude XP notebook computer, an Ethernet replicator, or a battery charger, check the lower-left corner of the regulatory label on the bottom of the AC adapter. If the label says "18V," "3.5A," and "65W CONT," you must use the AC adapter converter.

WARNING: Do not use the AC adapter that accompanied your Dell Ethernet replicator or Dell Latitude XP computer to power the Dell Latitude XPi notebook computer or the Token Ring Advanced Port Replicator.

Use the following procedure to connect the Dell Latitude XPi AC adapter:

20000000.gif Insert connector A of the AC adapter converter into the connector on the end of the AC adapter cable. The AC adapter cable is part of the AC adapter.

20000000.gif Insert connector B of the AC adapter converter into the AC adapter connector on the Dell Latitude XP notebook computer, Ethernet replicator, or battery charger.
