This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC Rules. On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment. If requested, this information must be given to the telephone company.
The REN is used to determine the maximum number of devices connected to your telephone line that will ring in response to an incoming call. In most, but not all, areas, the total REN of devices connected to a line should not exceed five. To find out the total permitted in your area, contact your local telephone company.
If your telephone equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company can discontinue your service temporarily. If possible, the company will notify you in advance. However, if advance notice isn't practical, you will be notified as soon as possible. You will be informed of your right to file a complaint with the FCC.
Your telephone company can make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations, or procedures that could affect the operation of your equipment. If so, you will be notified in advance so you can make the changes needed to maintain uninterrupted service.
If you experience trouble with this equipment, please contact the manufacturer. The telephone company may ask that you disconnect this equipment from the network until the problem has been corrected or until you are sure that the equipment in is not malfunctioning.
NOTE: The CDOC label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, operational, and safety requirements. The Department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user's satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases, the company's inside wiring associated with a single-line individual service may be extended by means of a certified connector assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines, and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.
CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, electrician, Dell or Actiontec, as appropriate.
NOTE: The Load Number (LN) assigned to each terminal device denotes the percentage of the total load to be connected to a telephone loop that is used by the device, to prevent overloading. The termination on a loop may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the LNs of all the devices does not exceed 100.
This equipment has been approved to [Commission Decision 98/482/EC - CTR 21] for pan-European single-terminal connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). However, due to differences between the individual PSTNs provided in different countries, the approval does not, of itself, give an unconditional assurance of successful operation on every PSTN termination point. In the event of problems, you should contact your equipment supplier in the first instance.
The equipment is known to work with the PSTNs of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. There are no known interworking difficulties with the PSTNs of the above-mentioned countries.
