Overview

You might want to disable interfaces that you are not using to free up resources, for example, when you do not have enough IRQ lines.


Enabling/Disabling Gameport Joystick Interface

The Gameport Joystick interface on your audio card can be enabled or disabled in Windows.

Microsoft Windows XP Operating System

To enable or disable the interface:

  1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, double-click the System icon.
  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.
  4. Click the Device Manager button.
  5. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
  6. Double-click Game Port for SB Live! Series.
  7. Click the General tab.
  8. In the Device usage box:
  • To enable the interface, click the down arrow and select Do not use this device (disable).
  • To disable the interface, click the down arrow and select Use this device (enable).
  1. Click the OK button for the change to take effect.
